As per TMZ, Eminem's biological father, Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr., has died at 67.
The news outlet reports that Em's father died this week near Fort Wayne, Indiana. Reportedly, he suffered a heart attack while at home.
In the past, Eminem has referenced his difficult relationship with his father. Deborah Mathers, Eminem's mother, married Mathers when he was 22 and she was 15. The couple had their son, Eminem, only two years later. Following the split, Eminem lived with his mother in Detroit while his father moved to California and continued to extend his family.
Throughout his career, Eminem spoke about his father on several tracks including "Cleanin' Out My Closet" and "My Name Is." On the track, "Cleanin' Out My Closet," which was produced by Jeff Bass, the Kamikaze rapper details being abandoned by his father.
"Before I ever had a multi-platinum selling CD/I was a baby, maybe I was just a couple of months/My faggot father must've had his panties up in a bunch/'Cause he split, I wonder if he even kissed me goodbye/No, I don't, on second thought, I just f--kin' wished he would die," he spits.
Eminem has yet to comment on the untimely death of his father. However, fans continue to show their support for the emcee.
"Eminem's father just passed of a heart attack," the fan wrote on Twitter. "The sad part is Eminem is near 50, never met him and wrote a number of songs about how much he loathed him. His dad tried to reach him in 01 but by then he didn't want to hear from him and sadly, now he's gone."
Back in February, Eminem teamed up with Boogie for their track "Rainy Days." Last year, Eminem sold more albums than any other artist. The Detroit rapper accumulated a total of 755,027 units in album sales.
