Ayesha Curry found herself at the center of conversation this past week on Twitter after appearing on a recently aired segment of Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk” interview series.

During the sit-down, Ayesha opened up about a subject she admittedly struggles with, commenting on the attention her husband, Steph Curry, receives due to his celebrity status as a pro basketball player from the opposite sex. Her commentary ignited a heated debate on social media, with many wondering what Steph would say in response should he choose to weigh in.

On Thursday (May 9), the Golden State Warriors player and proud family man finally addressed the situation on social media, joining the thousands of fans who had come to her defense online. Many had criticized Ayesha for being transparent about her observations regarding the attention her husband receives from women and how she feels she doesn’t attract the same type of attention. Due to the relatable subject matter, and the couple’s shared celebrity status, countless fans became divided over the topic online.

Offering a message of encouragement on his Instagram Story, Steph wrote, “Proud of you for being authentic and putting yourself out there-not being afraid of the potential bulls–t and nonsense that could and did come at you. Way more positive than negative with all of this. Keep being you. I love you.”

In addition to Steph showing his wife support on social media, Ayesha also posted a follow-up message further clarifying why she chose to be transparent about a personal subject that had been weighing on her mind, noting how Pinkett Smith’s show was the perfect platform to do so.

“I have never been one to cage my feelings and emotions to any capacity. I am human,” she wrote on Instagram. “It brings me pure joy to speak my mind, be vulnerable at times and to know myself inside and out. Seeing as how it’s mental health awareness month I really want to take the time to encourage everyone to speak their truth regardless of perception, fitting into a mold or offending someone, because it’s YOUR truth. And that’s okay!”
