Nipsey Hussle was all about giving back, even on the day his life was tragically taken away.
The Victory Lap rapper was at his clothing store in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 31) helping an old friend pick out clothes and celebrating his recent release from prison. According to TMZ, Hussle wanted to make sure his friend was presentable to his family and friends later that evening after serving 20 years behind bars.
As previously reported, what was supposed to be a good deed ended in tragedy when 29-year-old Eric Holder allegedly shot at Hussle, the friend in question, and the friend's nephew who drove them to the store located on the intersection of Crenshaw and Slauson Avenue.
Fortunately, Hussle's friend and his nephew survived the ambush. The L.A. County Medical Coroner report revealed the 33-year-old recording artist died from gunshot wounds to his head and torso.
On Tuesday (April 2), LAPD apprehended Holder and denied Hussle's murder was gang-related. Shortly after his death, Los Angeles Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff confirmed Hussle was scheduled to meet with the police department to discuss ways to combat gang violence on Monday (April 1).
According to officials, it appears Holder's attack was motivated by a personal dispute he had with Hussle. "The aspect of the nature of the dispute, to our information, is not anything relative to rivalries between gangs, but rather a dispute between these two individuals," LAPD Chief Michel R. Moore shared during a press conference.
As of Wednesday (April 3), Holder remains behind bars in solitary confinement. Police are reportedly worried he may be killed by inmates in retaliation for Hussle's murder. His bail has been set at $7 million.
Hussle's girlfriend, actress Lauren London, broke her silence about his passing on Tuesday night, writing, "I'm lost without you. We are lost without you, babe. I have no words." Hussle is survived by two children: his 7-year-old daughter, Emani, from a previous relationship and his 2-year-old son, Kross, with London. Read her full post ahead.
