Unstoppable Nigerian artist Burna Boy has released a surprise EP titled Steel & Copper with celebrated LA duo DJDS. The collaboration is a brief but potent four track set of unexpected tracks that highlight the best of both artists. Three of the four songs; the quick and tender “Darko”, the sparse and melodic “34” and the most traditionally DJDS-sounding “Thuggin” (complete with signature DJDS trademarks like the reverbed out soul vocal snippet and selective withholding of certain instruments throughout for texture) feature Burna sing-rapping contemplatively about a series of hardships and victories. The fourth, “Innocent Man”, is a much welcomed departure into delightfully menacing territory where Burna snaps like a burst pipe and reminds listeners he can deliver a gritty trap gem whenever he needs to. Check out Steel & Copper ASAP.
