Cardi B is gearing up to make what will presumably be a natural transition from the stage to the big screen.

As announced on Tuesday (March 19), the Grammy Award winning rapper has been recruited to join the cast of the upcoming film, Hustlers. The movie, which is a drama centering around a strip club in New York City, will star Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles and Lili Reinhart, among others.

According to Deadline, the film is an adaptation of the 2015 New York magazine article “Hustlers at Scores.” Much like the name implies, the plot focuses on several strippers who decide to seek revenge and steal thousands of dollars from their wealthy Wall Street clients.

As reported, shooting for the film is set to begin this Friday (March 22) in New York City.

To celebrate the news, Lopez took to social media, confirming, “It’s official! Constance Wu and Cardi B are joining me in @HustlersMovie – coming soon to theaters!”

Although Cardi B’s involvement in the film marks her official first foray into acting (reality TV experience aside), her enthusiastic and unapologetic personality, paired with her past experiences in the world of exotic dancing, makes her a fitting candidate for the project.

Writer-director Lorene Scafaria expressed her excitement about the film’s casting, sharing in a statement, “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this dynamic group of women. We’re grateful to have assembled such a powerhouse cast and can’t wait to start filming.”

While additional details surrounding the film have yet to be shared, perhaps fans can anticipate Cardi B playing a role in the movie’s soundtrack as well.

Recently, Cardi B took to social media to mourn the loss of a fan who passed away from cancer. The rapper shared a photo of herself and Alaysia Crockett, as well as penned a heartfelt tribute recalling their time spent together.
