Almost eight years after Drake released his sophomore album Take Care, the album is breaking a new record on the Billboard charts.

With Take Care holding down the No. 43 spot on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart this week, the album officially breaks the record for the most weeks on this Billboard chart since the ranking began in 1963. By spending 186 weeks on the charts since its release on November 15, 2011, the album beats out Kenny G's Breathless, which stayed on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for 185 weeks between 1992 and 1997.

Drake has two out of the top 10 albums that have spent the most weeks on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. His 2016 album Views has spent 148 weeks on the chart ranking it at No. 5.

J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive is holding down the No. 3 spot with 174 weeks, Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city ranks at No. 6 with 146 weeks and Wu-Tang Clan's Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) is holding down the No. 10 spot with 140 weeks on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Billboard notes that several of the albums in the Top 10 have benefited from a 2017 change in the chart's tabulation. Before the new rules went into effect for the chart dated Feb. 11, 2017, the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart was only based on sales. Currently, the chart ranks albums based on multi-metric consumption through album sales, track-equivalent album units and streaming-equivalent album units.

This has resulted in older records that are available for streaming, like Drake's Take Care, to resurface on the chart. Before the new rules, Take Care was absent from the chart for almost four years.
