Meek Mill has signed a new artist named Yung Ro to his Dream Chasers record label.

The St. Louis-native recently took to social media to explain his decision against purchasing any fancy jewelry or designer items after inking a deal with the label. Ro made it clear that he is prioritizing his family before material items.

“Listen, why would I walk around with $50,000.00 worth of jewelry on my neck, and my momma ain’t got no mutherf—kin house, my grandma still on dialysis,” he said. “How am I gonna look to them? He just spent 50 on jewelry, it takes like 30 for my grandma to get off dialysis. Man sh-t crazy! No I got to get them right then you gonna see me icing myself up, you gonna see me walking in designer shoes.”

Meek launched his Dream Chasers record label with Roc Nation back in July. JAY-Z and Meek sat down for an interview with “CBS This Morning”’s Gayle King and spoke on their latest business venture. JAY said at the time, “The music and culture we create, you know we’ve been giving it away for so long. Which is understandable, you’ve got to start somewhere. You’ve got to clean the floors up before you own the building but we don’t shine shoes anymore.”

Meek, who revealed that his partnership with Hov was a dream come true, also said, “Coming into the music industry, of course, there’s always the people you admire, there’s not too many people I admire on a music level and a business level and on like, as a man level. So doing business with Hova is like, like even when we talk I always explain it to him like that that was crazy, it’s a regular day for you but this is a part of my dreams being in this situation.”
