The Notorious B.I.G. is still getting the recognition he rightfully deserves.

According to NPR, Big Poppa has been nominated for the induction into the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. According to the news outlet, in order to be considered eligible, “artists or bands must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago.” Thanks to Biggie’s album, Ready to Die, which released in 1994, he is considered eligible for the coveted award.

In addition to Biggie, other nominees include Dave Matthews Band, Pat Benatar, Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Judas Priest, MC5, Motörhead, Nine Inch Nails, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren, Soundgarden, T. Rex and Thin Lizzy.

In the past, rappers like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C., the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A and Tupac Shakur have had the opportunity to add the award to their list of accomplishments. Starting on Tuesday (Oct. 15), fans will be able to vote for their favorite artists with the help of Google. Voting polls will end in January 2020 as the event is scheduled to take place in May of 2020.

Following the announcement, many shared their reactions on Twitter. Surprisingly, there are some users who believe that Biggie doesn’t deserve the nomination. “This ballot is better than previous years but Notorious BIG and Whitney Houston should not have been nominated. Whitney was a Pop Star and Notorious BIG was a Rapper. This is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame not the Pop, Rap and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” one user wrote.
