Kanye West reveals he converted to Christianity this year

The Sunday Service creator shares his truth.

Kanye West has been shy about sharing his faith and views on his life.

This weekend, West stopped by the George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium, where he revealed that he converted to Christianity in 2019. “I want to let you know that I am not here for your entertainment this afternoon,” West admitted. “We are here to spread the gospel [...] excuse me if I mispronounce anything,” he added. “I am a recent convert. It means I recently got saved within this year.”

As it turns out, West converting to Christianity and launching his weekly Sunday Service has allowed him to find a new source of healing. “Kanye started this, I think, just to heal himself,” Kim Kardashian West, ‘Ye’s wife, revealed. “It was a real personal thing, and it was just friends and family, and he has had an amazing evolution of being born again and being saved by Christ. People always ask, ‘Well, what are you worshiping?’ Or, ‘What is this?’ It is a Christian service, like a musical ministry. They talk about Jesus and God.”

On the topic of ‘Ye’s faith, it inspired him to create a gospel-themed album, Jesus Is King. Although the project was expected to drop on Sept. 27, West’s camp has yet to announce a new release date. More recently, ‘Ye’s pastor, Adam Tyson, detailed his role in the making of the upcoming LP.

“So he wants me to listen to different lyrics, different songs, and help tweak parts of it where I’ll hear parts of it in the studio and I am like, ‘Hey, man I’m not sure what you are trying to say right here, this to me is a little fussy, what are you trying to say,” Tyson said.

He continued, “And he will tell me what he is trying to say and I will be like well I don’t understand it maybe you can say it a little differently or be careful here. It’s not like I am writing the song, it’s all of his work, he’s the complete creative kind of guy, he’s the musician, I am just making comments.”
