For his Jesus Is King album, it appears that Kanye West is seeking guidance from his pastor, Adam Tyson.
Earlier this month, while speaking on The Pure Flix podcast, Tyson explained his part with ‘Ye’s project. According to Tyson, he provided ‘Ye with all the resources he needed to make songs for Jesus.
“So he wants me to listen to different lyrics, different songs, and help tweak parts of it where I’ll hear parts of it in the studio and I am like, ‘Hey, man I’m not sure what you are trying to say right here, this to me is a little fussy, what are you trying to say,” Tyson said.
He continued, “And he will tell me what he is trying to say and I will be like well I don’t understand it maybe you can say it a little differently or be careful here. It’s not like I am writing the song, it’s all of his work, he’s the complete creative kind of guy, he’s the musician, I am just making comments.”
As you might recall, West’s Jesus Is King album was originally slated to release on Sept. 27, however, ‘Ye changed his mind to tweak a few things. According to TMZ, ‘Ye has yet to decide on a new release date. “Every time he listens, there’s something he wants to change,” a source revealed to TMZ. This isn’t the first time that fans have been told that a few changes needed to be made. On Friday (Sept. 27), Kim Kardashian West stated that her husband was making a few changes in a post uploaded to her Twitter account.
“Kanye’s doing a listening session in Chicago tomorrow, then NYC Sunday. He’s dropping the album Sunday. Just a few final tweaks to the mixes,” the KUWTK star wrote, at the time.
