Big Freedia, a name some may recognize from her involvement with Drake’s “Nice For What” or Beyoncé’s Lemonade anthem “Formation,” is gearing up to release a new EP this summer.

The New Orleans mainstay, who has been a longtime fixture in the hip-hop subgenre fondly known as bounce music, announced the news on Instagram, excitedly sharing the project’s cover and release date.

The new EP, titled 3rd Ward Bounce, is set to be released on June 1st, marking the lively rapper’s first project since 2014’s Just Be Free. Per Rolling Stone, the project will span five tracks and include a guest feature from Lizzo.

“Be ready for something hot and new for your ears by me,” the announcement reads.

In addition to revealing the news of her forthcoming project, Big Freedia also shared the lead single, “Rent,” back in March. The song has already amassed over half-a-million streams on Spotify, with fans eager for more material from the Queen of Bounce.
