The Set remains. On Friday (April 13), Jim Jones dropped LPWasted Talent, but the Harlem Ambassador says he and his crew have a project coming right on the heels of his solo effort. The Diplomats (also consisting of Cam'Ron, Juelz Santana, and Freekey Zekey) are fully reconciled and working together in the lab like back in the day.
"It was a sad thing on both parts," Jimmy recently told REVOLT TV about his rift with Cam'Ron. But Jones was glad to see that most fans supported the men and didn't play favorites.
"It was a few knuckleheads, but for the most part people didn't take sides," he said. "It was more or less, 'We wish y'all get it together. We love the Dipset as a whole.' To see where we at now and the level of respect we have now... I went to see Juelz the other day. We were laughing and shit. He's doing pretty good."
As you know, Juelz Santana was recently arrested on gun charges and spent nearly a month in jail before coming home. The charismatic youngest member of the Set still has a long legal ride ahead of him, but the collective is moving forward and continuing to record.
"It's going pretty good," Jim said. "We've got a bunch of records. It's unfortunate what happened to Juelz in the midst of what we were doing. Now we're just re-grouping back to the studio [to] pick the best music and release it around the same time as the tour. Maybe a little bit before the tour."
The Diplomats are aiming to embark on their tour this summer. And as far as making their records, they've been working together in the lab almost as much as they did during their prolific mixtape run in the early 2000s.
"It's getting back to that," Jim said. "We grown, we all have families, we getting money. The band of brothers used to be [that] we were leaning on each other. We needed each other. All day. Now it's the same feeling. I go to the city, I call Cam; if he's in the city, he says, 'I'm pullin' up to the studio. Let me know what time you in the studio.' Same with Juelz. Juelz got the state-of-the-art studio. So I just go over there. The communication is there, the love is there."
Fans can get a taste of what's to come from the unit on Wasted Talent where Jim and Juelz have a collaboration called "Still Dipset."
