Comedian Faizon Love calls Dave Chappelle overrated on ‘The Breakfast Club’

The longtime comedian talks about why he believes Dave Chappelle is overrated, why Mo'Nique is mishandling her situation with Netflix, and more.

Following last week’s buzzworthy interview on Sway in the Morning, Faizon Love made his return to The Breakfast Club. The outspoken funny man, who has appeared in films like Bébé's Kids, Friday and The New Edition Story, clarified his statements on Dave Chappelle not being all of that funny. “Where is this King of Comedy stuff coming from?” asked comedian. He also said that the late, great Charlie Murphy played a huge role in the success of the infamous Chappelle's Show, suggested that Mo’Nique humble herself and curved the thought of reprising his role as Big Worm.

On Charlie Murphy's impact on Chappelle's Show: “The first season was wack. The second season is when Charlie started writing and that’s when you started to see the Rick James skits and all of that.”

On white people building Dave Chappelle: “They always fucked with Dave. They don’t really fuck with us. White people built Dave. For a fact, he never made niggas laugh.

On Mo’Nique’s Netflix controversy: “She should put her money where her mouth is and do it independent. She doesn’t need Netflix. It’s a nice check. Everybody would love a check for $30 million.

“You can’t be lazy. And there’s no such thing as a star. I think she’s living in the star world. Like ‘Listen, I have an Oscar.’ I think that’s part of it, but nobody gives a fuck about that Oscar. Get your bag and keep it moving.”

On playing Big Worm in a Friday sequel: “Nah, I’m too old for it. Listen, if we do a new Friday, Chris would have to be Big Worm. He’s big as a motherf*cker right now. He’s my size. I told Cube he should actually make it a Netflix television show, and introduce new people to it. I think he would kill it. Have him and Nia’s character get married and move around the corner.”
