Meek Mill wasn't able to see his hometown Philadelphia Eagles win Super Bowl LII in person, but the rapper's spirit lit up the field and the 'Net on Sunday (Feb. 4).
Justin Timberlake may have performed at halftime, but Meek Mill was the real musical guest of the Super Bowl. As he serves a two-year prison sentence for violating the terms of his probation, the Philadelphia Eagles stormed onto the field with the speakers blaring his heater "Dreams and Nightmares," the classic intro from his album of the same title.
The song choice already excited viewers who supported the city of Philadelphia and what many have considered an unjust prison sentence for Meek Mill. But when the Eagles actually won the game, defeating the New England Patriots - whose ownership and team leaders have expressed friendship or support of President Donald Trump - the support for Meek rose even more.
Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in state prison this past November, after Judge Genece Brinkley ruled that the rapper had violated his probation stemming from gun and drug charges. His lawyers have accused Brinkley of having a personal vendetta against the rapper, and have been gathering public and legal support to get her removed from the case.
