'Drink Champs': Fat Joe not offended by Steve Stoute saying he'd be "a better A&R guy than rapper"

Joey Crack takes Stoute's words as a compliment, but says "some artists don't like to give" props...like Eminem.

A few weeks ago, Drink Champs welcomed music, business, and marketing impresario Steve Stoute to the podcast and, needless to say, he went in!

The Queens native led gripping conversation on various topics and people including Will Smith, Nas and the Firm, and Fat Joe. Regarding the latter, Stoute commented that Joe makes for a better A&R than he does a artist. Although the mogul did not elaborate on his thoughts, many fans took his sentiments as disrespect to Joe.

Well, the Terror Squad Don recently returned to sit down with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. Joey Crack responded to Stoute's words with grace.

"I take it as a compliment," Joe remarked. "Thank God he's acknowledging that I've got a good ear and I know how to make hits. Thank God he mentioned my name. A lot of niggas be hiding my name. Some niggas don't like to give it up."

Offering an example, Joe kept it real and further explained, "Somebody I really, really love, Eminem, somebody I love, I've been waiting for the day for him to tell me Big Pun inspired him. You can hear it [in his raps]. I love Em and I support him one million percent, but I've been waiting for the day for him to say, 'You know what? Big Pun inspired me.'"

So the fact that Steve Stoute came up here [and mentioned me], that means I'm one step closer. They might like me a little bit."

For the record, not only does Joe think he's a fantastic A&R, but the mic legend feels he could be leading a record company, any record company.

"I deserve to be President of every single label," he said. "The niggas with the bow ties and everything—even though I had one on at the [Roc Nation] brunch—come up to me like, 'You're the best A&R in the game.' I should be having your job."

Following the 2018 Global Spin Awards, airing at 9 p.m. ET, 'Drink Champs' with Fat Joe will re-air at 10:30 p.m. ET.
