Fast-rising Brooklyn artist KOTA the Friend has surprised his growing fanbase with a new EP, ANYTHING.

The 10-track project arrives as the follow-up to his sophomore EP, 2017’s Paloma Beach, and features a variety of guests, including Angel Haze, Childish Major, Sylvan Lacue, Chelsea Reject, Khary and more, as well as production from Kota himself, 4K, 1994 and Mantra, among others. He also worked alongside Solange’s producer Blue, helping to further polish his vision for his latest offering.

“The project just felt needed, it felt right,” KOTA shared in a statement accompanying his new EP. “It’s hard to watch all these ‘music lovers’ talk about what’s hot or next and exclude so many artists that make music, that actually moves forward our industry. So I thought of it as good vs evil and we have to fight that. I teamed up with artists I love, those my fans have been asking me to work with and discovered new artists. We’re not just taking seconds and this project represents an alliance of talent that wants to fight for the music they love–not music people are paid to love.”

With the bona fide lyricist garnering over 3.9 million streams online and consistently working to perfect his craft AND fight against industry trends, it’s safe to say that KOTA is only just getting started, helping revitalize the New York scene all from his stoop in Clinton Hill with each and every release.
