About 10 years ago, Oakland’s Mistah F.A.B. had his most memorable night in New York City ever. He attended an event at SOBs for AllHipHop.com, where he got onstage and dissed Joe Budden and battle rapped Royce Da 5’9″. All of that action pales in comparison to a call he got later that night, while he was laying down in his hotel room.

“My phone rings. It’s four in the morning,” F.A.B. remembered while speaking with “Drink Champs” hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. This week FAB is part of an all-star lineup of Bay Area legends on the show, which includes Yukmouth from The Luniz and Too $hort.

“‘What up? It’s N.O.R.E. I’m at Yankee stadium pull up,’” F.A.B. retold, laughing a little harder. “I’m thinking it’s a setup. I’m calling alliances back home. I’m calling my niggas like ‘hey, is we still trippin’ with the East Coast? I turn to my cousin, I say ‘we gonna be suckas if we don’t go. He personally called us. That’s Melvyn Flint. We gotta go, fuck it.’”

F.A.B. and family jumped in a cab and went uptown to Yankee Stadium. They got a sobering sight uptown their arrival.

“It’s 50 Puerto Rican niggas standing outside,” the Oakland freestyle specialist said. “It’s 14, but it looked like 50. We hop out of the cab. It’s hella niggas standing around.”

Of course N.O.R.E. greeted him with love and a Unforgettable quotable.

“He says ‘either You a stupid muthafucka or You a real nigga. Me personally, I wouldn’t have came,’” the witty MC recalled, causing N.O.R.E. to agree and nod his head with more laughter.

“I felt like I was talking to the king of New York. Real Frank White story,” F.A.B. concluded. “I said ‘I really fuck with you, N.O.R.E. If something was gonna happen to me, let it be by N.O.R.E.’ We chilled till seven in the morning.”

While Mista F.A.B.’s and N.O.R.E.’s relationship has remained beef-free, the same can’t be said for $hort and Yukmouth. On this week’s episode, they discuss their rift and reconciliation. $hort, who also has been recently accused of sexual assault according to reports, also tells the panel why he doesn’t respect anyone who physically forces himself on a woman.

“Drink Champs” airs this Thursday, Feb. 1 only on Revolt TV at 10 p.m.
