DMX is heading back to jail.
The rapper was handcuffed and taken into custody today (January 30) in Manhattan Federal Court after a brief hearing with Judge Jed Rakoff.
X was supposed to have been completing rehab while out on bail for his tax evasion case. But he left the court-ordered drug program and failed a drug test upon testing positive for cocaine, opiates, and oxycodone. The judge ruled DMX a flight risk.
Judge Rakoff said he had tried to accommodate DMX's tour schedule, but recalled the rapper's bail terms and noted X's failure to comply with them.
Rakoff explained, "[DMX] in effect said, 'Judge, trust me.' I will have a drug counselor. That was a great big lie ... He said, in effect, 'screw you.'"
According to TMZ, DMX's attorney, Murray Richman, said, "I'm saddened and disappointed. We'll have to deal with it accordingly."
According to NY Daily News, X will likely remain in custody until his sentencing on March 28.
