It’s one thing to witness history from the audience – it’s another to actually be part of it. The latter scenario is exactly what’s happening for DJ Trauma, who has been Dave Chappelle’s official tour DJ for the past four years. It’s the gig of a lifetime right now: Chappelle is currently in the midst of a star-studded 16-date residency at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, where he’s bringing the likes of The Roots, Anderson .Paak, Lil Wayne, Usher, Chris Rock, and other legendary musicians and comedians to share the stage. Trauma gave a statement to REVOLT about his personal highlights of the tour so far.

The first week of Dave Chappelle’s New York City Radio City Music Hall residency was beyond lit, legendary, epic. I don’t even know any more words that I can use to describe it! It was absolutely an amazing week. He had people flying in from all over the world to come see him and his friends rock out. The first four days he called it “Rootsapoolza” and started off star-studded with LiL Wayne, Ice Cube, Common, Anderson .Paak and Vince Staples. But I have to say the most lit night was during the Rootsapalooza shows was ATL’s night when The Roots brought out Usher, T.I. and Big Boi. And when I thought it couldn’t get any better, Dave had what he quoted as the most expensive comedy show in history. He had Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Kevin Hart and himself rip the stage. So many people have come out to show Dave love. Every night backstage is an all star affair. Dave is so important to the culture. Only he could bring such a diverse crowd and an Allstar superstar lineup in one place together in such a legendary way!!”
