On August 21, Mystikal turned himself into authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest stemming from an alleged sexual assault that occurred in 2016. As the New Orleans rapper awaits his September 26 court date, he has asked the judge to lower his $2 million bond.

According to Bossip, Mystikal asked for a bond reduction because neither he nor his family would be able to come up with the amount of money needed for his release. The rapper’s attorney maintains that his client is innocent and says that he’s also willing to go to rehab or wear an ankle monitor to avoid jail.

Mystikal and fellow rapper Lil Hood are being accused of raping a woman after a concert in Shreveport, La. last year. If convicted, Mystikal could face the death penalty.
