Lil Yachty reveals why he turned down Reebok shoe deal

Despite being a sneakerhead, the rapper/pitchman had to let Reebok down. //

Lots of rappers are sneakerheads, so having their own shoes with major companies is often on their bucket lists. But not all deals work out, and in a new interview, Lil Yachty explained why he had to turn down a deal with Reebok.

In the latest installment of Complex's Sneaker Shopping series, interviewer Joe La Puma asked Yachty if any companies had approached him to design his own shoe. Yachty confirmed that Reebok had approached him to make his own boat shoe - but that the shoe was a little too weird for his tastes.

Namely, the importance of being in tune with your fanbase.

"Oh my god, I didn't like it. But I love Reebok. I just don't like the idea of the shoe," Yachty said. "I hate boat shoe. And it was a weird boat shoe. There were beads hanging out and it was weird."

For the rest of the interview, Yachty talks about his adoration for Jordans, New Balances, and more.
