Steve Aoki on hip hop-infused album 'Kolony': "The energy is really based on a group of people"

Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Ma$e and more make guest appearances.

Steering in a different direction from his previous work, Steve Aoki found himself sourcing new inspiration for his new album Kolony in the studios of Atlanta. There, he was able to create a synergy among many of his musical comrades. The result? No shortage of vibes and summer anthems here, and they'll ring true at every festival stage he hits.

Not only did Aoki work with the artists that put the A in A-list, like Migos, Lil Yachty, Wale, Gucci Mane, he also enlisted Yellow Claw and DVBBS for production. His ability to balance the sounds of such popular artists in combination with his own is evident on each track. And it's apparent that Aoki is going for the gusto on this album. REVOLT TV got to discuss the magic behind Aoki's sonic genius at a private listening. Here's what happened.
