JAY-Z's '4:44' missing from Billboard albums chart

Here's why.

Despite JAY-Z's 4:44 going platinum in less than a week and already receiving a just-announced supporting tour, there's one accolade the LP hasn't yet received.

The album, released June 30, has not yet appeared on the Billboard 200 chart.

However, there's good reason.

According to Billboard, because the project was released exclusively to TIDAL, the "streaming service will not be reporting any streaming data for 4:44 to Nielsen Music for the week ending July 6."

Instead, following its "wide release to most streamers and retailers [this past] Friday (July 7)," it is expected to appear "on the July 22-dated chart."

And there you have it.

Numbers-wise, however, Hits Daily Double's Rumor Mill predicted that in its post-TIDAL debut, 4:44 would sell 250-275,000 equivalent album units, of which 150-175,000 would be traditional.
