Look up at the top of the charts, it's Kung Fu Kenny.
For the second week in a row, Kendrick Lamar's blockbuster LP, DAMN., tops the Billboard 200 chart. Adding to his whopping 603,000 debut frame, the Compton lyricist's fourth studio effort earned another 238,000 album units. Now that sales have reached 800,000 copies, K. Dot is within reach of a platinum plaque for DAMN., which would further solidify the album as the fastest selling LP of 2017.
As noted by Billboard, DAMN.'s second week is driven by streams, as its streaming count total is 136,000 units, while traditional albums sales is 87,000 in traditional album sales, and earned 14,000 in track equivalent albums (TEA). The second week entry for the album is also the fourth-largest week of 2017 for an album, following its large debut and arrivals of Ed Sheeran's ÷ (451,000) and Drake's More Life with 505,000.
This past weekend, Drake praised the success behind Kung Fu Kenny’s DAMN., taking to IG to comment on the news of his latest chart performance. “Amazing to see our music moving,” he wrote.
In related Billboard 200 news, Drake's More Life and Sheeran's ÷ both remain in the top three, reaching at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively. More Life pulled an additional 77,000 copies, while ÷ tagged in 55,000 units.
Elsewhere, Bruno Mars' 24K Magic soars up to No. 5 (from last week's No. 7 spot) with 42,000 units, while The Chainsmokers' Memories... Do Not Open drop from No. 5 to No. 6 with 41,000.
