Wale originally planned to release his fifth studio album SHINE on May 5, but the Maybach Music Group rhymer couldn't wait: he decided to drop the album a full week early on Friday, April 28.

He made the announcement during a one-of-a-kind livestream event with Genius, where Wale gave live annotations for his lyrics and allowed fans to listen to new music.

SHINE is the official follow-up to 2015's The Album About Nothing. So far, fans have heard four songs from it: "Running Back (feat. Lil Wayne)," "Fashion Week (feat. G-Eazy)," "Fish n Grits (feat. Travis Scott)," and "MY PYT." The album also features guest appearances by Chris Brown, Major Lazer, Wizkid and J Balvin.

Wale also recently announced the SHINE Tour, which begins on May 5.
