Gone for a minute, the Queen Bee is now back with the jump off.
"I would say it's like the jump off to this album," Lil Kim said today (November 3) on Hot 97's Ebro In the Morning about her comeback song "Took Us A Break." The song released online to streaming platforms and finds the BK rapper in full Kimmy Blanco mode. "Penthouse just for my daughter," she boasts. "My rooftop got a rooftop." When asked if this would be the single to her new album, Kim advised that this is only the beginning. "It's not my first single, it's just a song that is like a set up record that lets my fans know that we back and we moving." The record has since received a music video.
As for her long-awaited album, there is no timetable set in stone, but things are certainly in motion. "These songs are so ingenious," Kim described. "I'm really proud of these records. I collaborated with a lot of people." One of those "proud records" is a song called "Catch My Wave," which she described as "a mixture of Hard Core Kim and [Kim] now." Another exciting track is one with Remy Ma, which according to Kim herself "is so fire."
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Kim and Remy are gearing up to drop a brand new record called "Wake Me Up." According to a TMZ report, the song is reportedly sprinkled with subliminals directed at Nicki Minaj. However, Kim denied those claims during her Hot 97 interview. When asked about the rumors, Kim said, "I hate that."
"I hate that because number one my mind is always on that bag. It's always on that bag. The messed up thing is, because we are real artists and we do what we do, no matter what we say — if I be like, "fake ass such and such," they gonna be like, 'oh she talking about such and such,'" she said. "I feel like people know me and Remy well enough that if we gonna talk about somebody, we're going to say their name. We're just making music and doing what we do. My mind is always on that bag, my mind ain't on ol' girl. I don't care about that."
As for the anticipate song itself, Kim teased what fans can expect. "I'm on the hook, I do a bridge and I thought it would be so boss, because when you hear the song it's a familiar song."
