New Music: Kehlani drops sweet ballad "Honey"

The singer makes a happy return.

Kehlani

Kehlani has broken her hiatus, today (Oct. 3) releasing her first new material since making her highly anticipated debut with SweetSexySavage back in January of this year.

The Oakland singer's new track, "Honey," is as sweet as the title suggests, with the stripped-down acoustic instrumental beautifully framing her celebrated vocals.

The artist cancels her show in Michigan, and tells fans she needed to go to the hospital.

"I like my girls just like I like my honey/Sweet, a little selfish," the 22-year-old sings during the song's chorus. "I like my women like I like my money; green / A little jealous / 'Cause I'm a beautiful mess, but I'm funny."

Taking to Instagram, she shared the backstory of the track, explaining that "messing around on a @geoffrocause guitar loop with my best friends became this."

Take a listen to Kehlani's "Honey" below.
