After garnering the attention of renowned artists such as Masta Ace, Wordsworth and Kool G Rap, and collaborating with each respectively, New York native Pearl Gates is leveling up once again with the release of his debut album, Live From The First.
For the Washington Heights emcee's latest, he artfully chooses to chronicle his transition from the streets to the studio, with the rapper recruiting the likes of Torae, Cassidy, Camp Lo's Geechi Suede and a handful of up-and-coming artists as featured guests on his new project.
Spanning 17 tracks, the ambitious full-length is full of stories from his block on 181st street in upper Manhattan, with Pearl Gates waxing poetic over how far he's come and where his music will be taking him next, God-willing.
"Most of the tracks on the album revolve around stories and experiences from the block" he shared, speaking on the album. "I'm talking on past experiences I had, however, I'm using the drug game as a metaphor for taking over the rap game."
