The 2017 REVOLT Music Conference is here.
The four-day extravaganza kicks off today (October 12) at Miami’s Eden Roc hotel and runs through Sunday. Of course, Diddy will be on-hand as will a plethora of icons and superstars such as Lauryn Hill, Pusha T, Queen Latifah, 21 Savage, 2 Chainz and SZA. But, the main component of RMC focuses on the names no one knows. It’s a chance for people aspiring to make it in the music industry to learn how to get on, gain success, and maintain stability.
Producers Cool and Dre, two Miami-based music staples, say RMC is an invaluable annual gathering for their city.
“Big shout out to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs,” said Dre while sitting next to Cool in an office in their Lake Oasis studio. “You’re doing such a big thing, brother. We’re just appreciative of this platform you’ve created for people to get their ideas out, for people to get their music out, for people that are interested in learning more about the music business, for people to sit down and have a conversation with people who have been successful in the music business. Whether it’s executives, songwriters, artists, it’s tremendous. We came up in the days of ‘How Can I Be Down’ and other music conferences, but the REVOLT Music Conference for this generation is so important.”
“Being in Miami is such a blessing,” Dre added. “We know so many artists here that they’re hustling hard, they’re doing their thing, flooding the SoundCloud, putting their videos on YouTube, doing their thing. It’s such a great opportunity for our city and the artists here to be heard. Once again, Puff, we appreciate you, bro. We appreciate this platform. Last year, we were on the producer panel and we had an opportunity to chop it up with artists. We had an opportunity to get in the studio with some guys we met through the conference, so it’s super important.”
Cool and Dre are still celebrating the success of the Grammy-nominated track “All The Way Up” that they produced for Fat Joe and Remy Ma, and Joe’s current smash “So Excited” on which Dre sings the hook.
