Once again, Chance the Rapper reaches new heights with what some would describe as “the best show ever.” Saturday’s Magnificent Coloring Day, the first music festival to ever take place at U.S. Cellular Field, reached capacity as over 40,000 fans from different parts of Chicago united in one place to witness history.
On the city's South side, the show's all-star lineup included Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Skrillex, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, John Legend, Tyler the Creator, and Alicia Keys. With surprise appearances by Chicago’s own Common and Kanye West, fans jumped the barricades and over Porta-Potties to flood the floor seats to get a closer view.
Chance’s love for the city is undeniable. Through various channels such as his music, monthly open mics for high school teens, and the recently launched nonprofit organization Social Works, Chance continues to innovate and test the limits of his influence.
“The boy name @chancetherapper from 79th street is officially the King of Chicago…no debate what he has done for the city and for music in such a short time is more than anyone else has done…proud of him this is remarkable,” Hustle Simmons said via Instagram.
Indeed, the Chicago stop on the Magnificent Coloring World Tour is one for the history books. Salute to Chance, Chicago’s own!
