Like many of her fellow celebrities, Solange has taken to social media to respond to the recent and eerily similar deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

The singer posted a short cover of Syreeta's "Black Maybe" on Instagram, writing: "Been singing Syreeta's 'Black Maybe' over and over again trying to comfort my weary heart... But what is comfort when the images of slain black bodies left to bleed are sketched into your being...over and over again. #AltonSterling #PhilandoCastile."

The original track was written by Stevie Wonder and appeared on Syreeta's self-titled debut album from 1972. Solo made sure to share its lyrics, too.

She also took to Twitter to share how the news has affected her immediate circle of friends and their kids.

Solange's sister Beyonce has also just responded to the shootings by penning a call to action on her official website and stopping her show in Glasgow, Scotland for a moment of silence.
