Afropunk London is just trying to launch its inaugural festival, but the event has already been met with several challenges.
But the organization stood by their decision then, saying, "we would never elevate an artist or performer who we considered at odds with our ethos."
However, a few weeks later, Afropunk backtracked, saying that after "discussing the situation with the artist and the community," they'd removed M.I.A. from not just the line-up's top spot, but from the festival altogether.
