Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris' breakup has just gone from amicable to uncivil.
According to a series of tweets spewed by the DJ last night (July 12), the two are at odds over his hit song, "This Is What You Came For." Well, her hit song, really.
Initially reported by TMZ, and confirmed by Swift's reps to Rolling Stone, Swift co-wrote the Rihanna-assisted song along with Harris during their relationship. However, according to Harris, Swift wanted to keep it a "secret"—TMZ says it was because they agreed their coupledom "would overshadow the song"—so she used the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg for its credits, but showed some silent support on Instagram by rocking a jacket with the single's cover art.
According to TMZ though, it was during the promo circuit for the single that things turned sour. When asked during an interview with Ryan Seacrest if he would collaborate with his then-girlfriend, Harris said: "You know we haven't even spoken about it. I can't see it happening though." And about a month later, the relationship was over.
Yesterday, Harris confirmed much of the story on Twitter and though he initially appeared to be keeping it civil, he eventually accused Swift of trying to make him look bad, and even took a jab by referencing her beef with Katy Perry.
"…She sings on a little bit of it too. Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual. I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym. Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though. I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do. I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it. Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you've earned a great one. God bless everyone have a beautiful day."
Swift has yet to comment, and has since moved on with actor Tom Hiddleston.
