Kanye West tried to me a man of the people. There was just too many people.
The rapper announced a surprise pop-up concert set for the early morning hours of Monday (June 6) at Manhattan's Webster Hall and to the surprise of many, over 4,000 people showed up, according to reports.
Yeezy and his G.O.O.D. Music crew were in town as a part of Governors Ball and Hot 97's Summer Jam festivals. The former was cancelled due to weather concerns and acts like Vic Mensa and Courtney Barnett, who were set to perform, dropped in at various NYC venues as a means of making it up to fans. 'Ye attempted to follow suit after a guest appearance at Met Life stadium for Summer Jam.
The rapper and his collective first announced a show would take place at 2:00 a.m. and later they added details, notifying their followers that they would be performing at Webster Hall.
The crowd quickly swelled; in video below, West and Travis Scott are only a few blocks away from Webster Hall and are being mobbed by fans.
Ultimately, it appears the crew split up in order to make things work, albeit without the promised Pablo pop-up.
Pusha T posted a video clip on Instagram of Desiigner performing at S.O.B.'s, with himself and 2 Chainz in tow.
Producer Mike Dean confirmed the night was over at nearly 4:00 a.m. when he sent a tweet to fans relaying that the G.O.O.D. team tried to find three different locations to perform but each had been shut down.
Thanks to everyone. We tried pop up shows at 3 places. All shut down.— MIKE DEAN! #MWA (@therealmikedean) June 6, 2016
