A couple months back, unbeknownst to fans, DJ Khaled gave a short preview of his highly-anticipated Major Key single, "I Got The Keys." It appeared in the now famous Roc-A-Fella chain-ing day vid and in it, you can hear Jay Z previewing a snippet of his verse. Now, the moment that's been hyped for months is finally here.
"Big Pimpin on your court steps, in case y'all ain't noticed, I ain't lost yet," raps Hov, who stars on the single that is set to open Khaled's upcoming album. With Future handling the chorus, Jigga later adds a few more boastful lines to the scoreboard: "My wife Beyoncé, I brag different / My baby Blue, I dream in color / That's too much for ya, I don't rap to suckers."
Producers Southside, Jake One, and G-Coup deliver a monstrous backdrop that packs enough umph to crack a few potholes this summer. Both Khaled and Future have dubbed this a "f—k up the summer" banger, and by no means is it anything but. Albeit, longtime Jay fans will have a lot to say about the God MC's back-to-back verses (especially verse two).
For Hovito, this is one of three new appearances from him since the start of the summer, starting with Fat Joe's "All the Way Up" remix and Pusha T's "Drug Dealers Anonymous." These string of records could possibly be a sign at a new Jay solo album. After all, Reasonable Doubt turned 20 just yesterday (June 25).
To compliment the surefire summer favorite, Khaled dropped a star-studded visual for "I Got The Keys," which is available now on Tidal. Directed by Sam Lecca, the striking video features cameos from A$AP Ferg, Fabolous, Rick Ross, T.I., 2 Chainz, Pusha T, Busta Rhymes, Mavado, Swizz Beatz and more.
DJ Khaled's Major Key drops July 22.
