It's been over three years since Solange dropped True, her EP that blended alternative soul, pop, electronica and retro sounds, and established her as, well, a true trendsetting artist.
And now, on her 30th birthday, she's celebrating more than just the milestone, but the completion of True's follow-up.
The singer made the announcement in a retrospective post on Instagram, in which she shared the high (and low) lights of all her years. From losing her best friend at the age of 16 and giving birth at 17, to suffering panic attacks during her 24th year and launching a record label at the age of 27, Solange rounds out the list by revealing that just 72 hours before turning 30, she's finished her latest album.
She used the opportunity to also share words of encouragement: "I say all of that to say...don't eveeer let anyone write your story for you. They can talk, they can doubt, and they can say what they wanna, but only you have the words to narrate this ting we call life."
