In early May, Lloyd dropped “Tru,” the first single from his upcoming EP, produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. Since then, his fans have been clamoring to hear what else the R&B crooner has cooking for this next project, especially considering his last LP, King of Hearts, was released five years ago.
Before dropping a follow-up though—R&B is about taking it slow, after all—Lloyd spoke to REVOLT during the filming of the "Tru" video. (Stay tuned for details about the video's release.)
"The idea was to keep it as true and as real and as raw as humanly possible," he explained. "I think that we captured some really truthful moments." Indeed.
The clip features shots of Lloyd walking the streets of Atlanta with two of his buddies (one being rapper Kap-G, also from the A-Town) presumably to talk about life and its trials. Then in another scene, there are desolate acres of farmland and an empty house, with a sole rocking chair and not a soul at home.
"The song is really soulful in that it allows us to not have to overdo it in the video," Lloyd said. "It allows us to kinda be a little candid. Not lazy but candid because I want people to enjoy the simpler things about life, the song and myself."
The title of Lloyd’s EP has yet to be announced but he's grinding, both on and off the stage. This past weekend the singer brought Ashanti out to a sold-out crowd at Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash in Atlanta. We can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve next, especially since "Tru" is taking off on radio.**
