Timbaland Announces Hip-Hop Musical "Opera Noir"

Based on his upcoming album of the same name.

It was almost two years ago that Timbaland announced to REVOLT the details behind his upcoming fourth album, Opera Noir. And now it’s finally beginning to come to fruition.

The super-producer said then, “It’s a culture thing. It’s the truth. It’s just about life in general. My life. My personal life, and I found myself as an artist and human being and as a man. I found who I am.” Comparing it to Dr. Dre’s long-awaited opus, Timbo added, “I finally made my Chronic.”

Now, the beat-maker is developing a scripted hip-hop musical based on the same album. He’s partnered with Leftfield Pictures, saying to Variety, “They understand my vision for this project, which I’ve had for years, and I’m confident they will help bring this to life for everyone to see.”

Both the autobiographical album and musical will reportedly dive into his childhood, poverty, and substance abuse and, according to Variety, could be presented in various formats, “from a standalone special to a limited series.”
