Damage control is in full effect for 50 Cent. Earlier this week, the rapper came under fire for mocking 19-year-old Andrew Farrell, a janitor at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport who suffers from autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.
50, who filmed their interaction, can be seen and heard saying, “The new generation is crazy. Look at him. What kind of shit you think he took before he got to work today? He high as a motherf—er, right here in the airport. Pupils dilated and everything.”
Farrell’s family planned to sue, but the rapper has since apologized, telling Page Six, “While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man. It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America. I have apologized personally to him and his family.”
Additionally, 50 has decided to donate $100,000 to Autism Speaks, an advocacy organization. He said in a statement, per TMZ, “I want to turn this misunderstanding into an understanding. There are people that are ignored, mistreated and neglected with disabilities that need our support.”
Now if only he could fix that bankruptcy issue.
