Behold, back when he was known as "KanYe to The," a beat-tape taken from that particular time period has surfaced. And it’s just as amazing as you would have imagined.
Before the fashion collections, let-me-talk-my-shit rants, a KimYe world whim and quite possibly when he smiled a bit more, Kanye West was a producer working out of an apartment in Chicago. He produced for local artists, beat down label doors, and took the time to curate a classic soul sample style that transitioned him towards the best to ever do it, or as he'd call it, a genius of our generation.
So now, randomly appears a release titled "Unreleased KanYe West Demo Beat Tape [c. Sept. 97’]" uploaded to Soundcloud late Sunday night from a user named Trilly Madison. Instead of the soul-fronted samples perpetuated with the early rise of Kanye’s career, we get a laidback take of rap-grooves, having one ended up on Kanye’s earliest productions on Grav’s “City to City.”
Take a listen to the archived beats below.
