Former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett will play Dionne Warwick in a biopic, the legendary singer announced in Cannes today.

The film will follow the early years of Warwick’s career from 1962 through 1968, and Donald Glover has signed on to play her father, Mansel. Olympia Dukakis will play Marlene Dietrich, who served as a mentor and who Warwick thanked for “doing everything” to help her, including “throwing out all my costumes because she didn’t like them.”

It was originally reported that Lady Gaga would be joining the cast in the role of Cilla Black, the singer’s “musical nemesis,” but her reps have denied this. On why Black was considered the villain of the film, Warwick said, “Because she stole my music!”

About Luckett, Warwick said, “She is perfect and she has exactly the right look. She will bring out what is needed for this part.”

Dionne is set to head into production later this year.
