City Of Cleveland To Pay Tamir Rice's Family $6 Million In Settlement

No fault is admitted as a part of the deal.

Jose Luis Magana // Associated Press

The family of Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old boy killed by police, will receive a $6 million to settle a federal lawsuit, according to the U.S. District Court.

As a part of the settlement the city will admit no fault or wrongdoing in the shooting.

The announcement arrived Monday morning (April 25) and nearly two years after the incident, in November 2014, when Rice was gunned down by Timothy Loehmann, a trainee mistook the young child's toy fun for a real one.

The shooting was not labeled a criminal act after a grand jury deemed it a "perfect storm of human error, mistakes and communications."
