Sam Smith may have taken a blunder with his Oscars performance, but one thing the singer isn’t on the fence about is his as-yet-titled new album. “It’s fucking great,” he told Associated Press this week. “It’s really deep shit that’s coming out — that’s all I’ll say.”
It that doesn’t spell out excitement, the day the album arrives sure will. This new release will properly follow-up the singer’s Grammy Award-winning debut, In the Lonely Hour. The 2014 release was drenched in emotion, thanks to songs like heart-tugging ballads like “Stay With Me” and “I’m Not the Only One,” among others. According to Smith, the emotions will continue to flow on the follow-up, however this time it will go “even deeper.”
"Every day I'm having little epiphanies and changes and loving it. But all I can say is that I'm putting my heart even more out on the fucking line," he said. "I'm going even deeper. I can't believe I'm even doing it, but I'm going even deeper.”
As far as the last album, Smith also revealed that while he continues to play In the Lonely Hour, the one song he no longer ride with is “Money on My Mind.”
“The core of the album, songs like 'Stay With Me,' 'I'm Not the Only One' — actually all the songs except 'Money on My Mind' — I really love and I'm really proud of the classic-ness of the way they sound, because I still listen to them now and I still love them," he shared.
No release date or title has been set for Sam Smith’s new album.
