Mack Wilds is throwback. The young entertainer is comfortable on any screen, big, small or mobile. It’s why he’s become such a success in TV and music.

The New York native burst onto the scene as a cast member on HBO’s gritty city series, The Wire, and lately he’s been making waves in the world of music. In 2013, he released his debut album, New York: A Love Story, and proved he was a deft performer, channeling ’90s crooners, including on his hit single “Own It.” This year, he returned to acting as a part of the cast for VH1’s hip-hop drama “The Breaks.”

Despite his star set to to soar, Wilds is a casual celebrity, comfortable in sweats and jeans, the more perfect attire to navigate NYC.

“I dress down a lot, which to me and my team, we still make sure it’s fly,” the 26-year-old explained. “There’s still little aspects that we do that’s fly, whether it’s our sneakers or a little pop of color in our shirts or hats. We’re always ready to be fly in a moment’s notice.”

Footaction helps him achieve his goal and “own it,” no matter the performance.

“I remember growing up, Footaction always had dope stuff, not just kicks,” the rapper/actor said. “You can get anything you needed to match what you got. It’s always been a staple.”
