As an outpour of contributions in the aid for water relief in Flint, Michigan continue to pile in, Snoop Dogg recently lent a helping hand by meeting with Mayor Karen Weaver to discuss solutions.
The West Coast rapper and entrepreneur sat with Flint Mayor Karen Weaver during a water drive this past weekend, to discuss ways he can help with the city’s lead-contaminated water crisis.
“What I appreciated is he wanted to get a thorough understanding about how long this has been going on and what’s been happened,” Weaver told local news outlet MLive. “He came and just wanted to sit down and talk about what’s been going on in Flint.”
While several celebrities donated cases and trucks of water, Weaver said her discussion with Snoop focused on immediate and long-term actions that would support the citizens of Flint.
“Somebody said, ‘Well, you don’t have ties to Flint, what made you come here?’” Weaver said of her interaction with Snoop to MLive. “He said, ‘We do have ties, we’re people.”
In addition to speaking with the Mayor of Flint, Snoop also performed at a “Flint Lives Matter” benefit concert on Saturday (January 30) at the Masonic Temple in Detroit.
