Within the months coming and years to date, .Paak has paid his musical dues. And now it all returns ten-fold.
Anderson .Paak is the latest artist to sign with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath imprint.
The Beats tycoon announced the news via a Twitter video this past weekend. “I want y’all to say what’s up to the new Aftermath representative,” says Dre of the ‘Yes Lawd’ singer-rapper. “Anderson .Paak, baby. Welcome to Aftermath.”
Dre tapped .Paak to sing on his latest album, Compton, and from there, it’s been a continuous wave of support from the Aftermath label.
“The first initial day I worked with Dre, I knew I was on top of the world after that,” .Paak told REVOLT following his studio sessions with the mega-producer. “That was some of my best work, working with him [Dre] and getting those vocal takes. He’s really a great producer, when it comes to the music and all that stuff –he’s crazy, but also working with artist vocally and pushing them.”
The announcement follows .Paak’s second album Malibu, which debuted earlier this month featuring The Game, SchoolBoy Q, Rapsody, Talib Kweli, and Robert Glasper. There will be a NxWorries full-length in 2016 too, on esteemed indie label Stones Throw.
“It’s such a blessing. Salute to the big homie Dre and his trust in me, it’s amazing to be a part of.”
