For A$AP Ferg the timing couldn’t be better to witness future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant’s farewell tour.
“I’m here so the energy is real big” Ferg told REVOLT about his own All-Star appearance, which coincides with the Laker great's last celebratory weekend. “All of the artists, a lot of my friends came out. It feels good, the energy is straight.
"Not really trying to plug my record but it’s been on a new level," he added. "The energy I’m getting from people and coming from off of the tour. Touching people with new songs, performing 'Tatted Angels' like a dedication to Yams. So that's what I’m looking forward to the people in Toronto to react to the music."
As the case with plenty other musicians who take part in the festivities, Ferg was keeping himself busy at a Samsung-sponsored event that hosted a private performance and viewing of the Slam Dunk Contest.
Just before taking the stage Ferg tipped his hat to Kobe, who’s playing in his final NBA All-Star game.
“I feel like when it's time, it's time” Ferg explained. “Right now Kobe feels like it's time. He’s not gonna be forgotten. He killed it for years. Like Kobe Bryant killed it for years. It's time to pass on the torch to the younger guys playing the game. But this is a big celebration and he’s going out with a bang, All-Star weekend. He’s one of the greats.”
