Exactly 52 years after The Beatles made their historical debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, Paul McCartney is now bringing his musical talents to the emoji world. The real-time interface Skype has enlisted the help of McCartney to create a new group of 10 moving emoticons, which Skype refers to as Mojis, for the mobile and desktop version of the app. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the new “Love” Mojis include characters such as a Sumo Cupid, Excited Octopus, and Flirting Banana.

The animated charters gyrate and move to short chords such as “doo dee dooo deeee,” that were used with guitar, drums, synthesizers and voice compositions from Paul himself.

McCartney explained the process on his website by saying:

"It turned out to be a great laugh at the same time as challenging because you suddenly realize you’ve got to compress a musical interpretation of an expression into less than five seconds. It was like doing a huge crossword puzzle and coming up with all these solutions. And at the same time it was musical so it was great practice for me in the studio."

The new Love Mojis become available on Skype today, and are free, because love doesn't cost a thing. (Let the love-talk begin..)
