On Monday night, hip-hop fans around the world were gifted with the most unexpected and hilarious beef of the year—Soulja Boy versus Quavo.
The largely forgotten, 26-year-old rapper has recently taken on public feuds with Lil Yachty, Shia Labeouf, and now, Quavo, arguably the most talented member of the Atlanta rap trio Migos.
It all started when Soulja posted screenshots of an apparent text message conversation on Instagram about “fake kicking it” with Quavo. The conversation escalated quickly and Soulja, who was clearly upset, claimed that he introduced Quavo to Sean Kingston and Travis Scott.
Apparently, Soulja gave Quavo his address and when he didn’t show up to his crib to address their issues, he released a diss track, “Soulja Boy - Beef (Quavo Diss)." This is obviously a desperate business move for Soulja because if he’s going to feud with one of hip-hop’s rising stars, he might as well get as much publicity out of it as he possible can, right?
In the track, Soulja says that Quavo is upset over his beef with Lil Yachty involving another text conversation with model India Love. Long story short, Yachty was involved with Love earlier this year and when Soulja posted an Instagram photo with her, Yachty asked him to take it down. Soulja Boy proceeded to lose his cool by tweeting screenshots of text conversations along with disses aimed at Yachty.
He also raps about Migos stealing his swag and knocking out Quavo's teeth. Hours after releasing the Quavo diss, Soulja has waved around an assault rifle on social media, pointing it at the camera and threatening to shoot the Migos rapper.
Quavo has since gone silent on social media. And none of the members of the Migos family have issued a response.
Meanwhile, hip-hop fans aren’t taking the online threats too seriously since the last time Soulja Boy was relevant he was crying on screen at the BET Awards for their Whitney Houston tribute in 2012.

While Soulja has spent 2016 publicly fighting with everyone and their mother, Quavo has landed guest features with the likes of PartyNextDoor, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty, and Kanye West. Migos is also celebrating their highest ranking single on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Bad and Boujee.” So, whether the beef is genuine or not, Soulja Boy should probably put down his weapons and figure out a way to make great music again.
