In late October, Sevyn Streeter was supposed to sing the National Anthem at the Philadelphia 76ers’ season opener versus the Oklahoma City Thunder, but said she was turned away right before the game was to start because she wore a jersey that read “We Matter.”

Rightfully, Sevyn took to her social media channels to blast the Sixers, and an uproar ensued. NBA.com reports that after fans and even some players expressed their disappointment, the team offered the singer an apology and rescheduled her performance.

In a statement, the 76ers said: We are sorry that this happened. After receiving feedback from our players, basketball operations staff and ownership group, we believe that the wrong decision was made, and Sevyn should have been welcomed to sing. We apologize to her, and in an effort to move the conversation forward, we have reached out to offer her an opportunity to return and perform at a game of her choice. We are waiting to hear back.

Sevyn will now sing the National Anthem to open the home game on December 16 between the 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Good job, Sevyn, for showing them that We Matter!
